Groveton, TX – March 22, 2025 – Residents of Groveton, Texas, have been without running water since early Thursday morning due to a major failure at the city’s primary water well. City officials say the problem began with a power surge that likely damaged the well’s pump, leading to a complete failure when an attempt was made to restart it under high demand.
A repair crew arrived on Saturday morning to replace the faulty pump, but in the meantime, emergency measures have been put in place to provide residents with water. Pennington Water Supply has stepped in to pump water into Groveton’s system, while the Trinity and 356 Volunteer Fire Departments are offering additional support. The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office has also been distributing water at the county jail to assist those in need.
City Councilman Casey Anderson acknowledged the critical nature of the situation, pointing out the fragility of Groveton’s water system. With limited pumping capacity and little room for error, he stressed the importance of addressing long-term infrastructure needs to prevent similar outages in the future.
Residents are urged to continue conserving water as the repairs are completed. Officials have not yet provided a timeline for full service restoration.
For ongoing updates, residents are encouraged to monitor city announcements.
