Molotov Attack at Pro-Israel Rally in Boulder Declared Act of Terror

Boulder, CO – June 1, 2025 – 2:30 PM MDT

A peaceful demonstration turned violent this afternoon in downtown Boulder when a man hurled Molotov cocktails at attendees of a solidarity walk for Israeli hostages, injuring several in what authorities are calling a “targeted terror attack.”

The incident occurred just after 1:00 PM at the intersection of 13th and Pearl Streets during a walk organized by the group Run For Their Lives. The event was part of a nationwide movement advocating for the release of Israeli hostages reportedly held in Gaza.

Witnesses say the suspect, described as a lone male, approached the gathering and began throwing incendiary devices without warning. Chaos erupted as flames spread and participants scrambled for safety. At least three individuals are confirmed injured, with burn wounds being treated at a local hospital.

The suspect was quickly subdued by bystanders and taken into custody by Boulder Police. He is reportedly being treated for minor injuries under hospital guard.

The FBI has launched a federal investigation, labeling the attack as a domestic act of terrorism. Officials have closed several blocks around the Pearl Street Mall to search for additional threats and gather forensic evidence.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis condemned the violence in a statement released minutes after the incident:

“This was a heinous act of terror aimed at innocent people standing up for peace. We will not tolerate hate-fueled violence in our communities.”

This attack comes amid a documented rise in antisemitic incidents across Colorado, with advocacy groups warning of increasingly bold threats to Jewish individuals and organizations.

Federal and local law enforcement agencies are urging the public to remain alert but calm. Anyone with footage or information related to the attack is asked to contact the FBI’s Denver field office.

This is a developing story. Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
