Felony Arrest Made in Sexual Assault of a Child Case Following Separate Child Abuse Investigation

San Jacinto County, TX – On May 13, 2025, the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office made a felony arrest in connection with the ongoing sexual assault of a child, following investigative developments stemming from a separate child abuse case.

In January 2025, the Sheriff’s Office received a child abuse referral from Child Protective Services after an infant was brought to a local hospital with a broken arm. The case was referred to the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division for further inquiry.

While investigating that incident, San Jacinto County detectives uncovered unrelated but serious information indicating an additional victim—this time involving the sexual abuse of another child. Detectives pursued these findings, which led to the arrest of a suspect on May 13, 2025, for the felony offense of sexual assault of a child.

At this time, the name of the suspect is not being released due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and efforts still underway to locate and interview additional witnesses. The child abuse case also remains open and under active investigation.

“The thought that people can commit these types of crimes upsets me to the core,” said Sheriff Sam Houston. “I am certainly glad that I have a good team of individuals—from our Patrol Division to our Detective Division—who share the same passion as I do for getting these individuals to face these charges and the consequences that come with them.”

The infant involved in the child abuse case has been moved to a secure location where she is receiving the best care and is protected from further harm.

The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community. Further information will be released as the investigation progresses and as those responsible are brought to justice.
