Trinity County Sheriff’s Deputy Seriously Injured in Early Morning Crash

Trinity County, TX — A Trinity County Sheriff’s Deputy is in serious condition following a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning near State Highway 94 and Scrub Creek Road.

Deputy Terry Mitchell was traveling along the highway in the early hours of June 3 when his vehicle left the roadway under unknown circumstances. Emergency responders arrived on scene and initially reported that Mitchell had sustained what appeared to be minor injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.

However, according to an update later in the day from Sheriff Woody Wallace, Mitchell’s condition deteriorated rapidly. Medical staff discovered severe internal injuries that were not apparent at the time of the crash. As of Tuesday afternoon, Mitchell remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Sheriff Wallace called for prayers and support from the community in a heartfelt message shared on social media, noting Mitchell’s dedication to public service and asking residents to rally around one of their own.

“We are asking everyone to please keep Deputy Mitchell in your thoughts and prayers,” Wallace wrote. “He’s a strong man, and we’re hopeful he’ll pull through.”

The exact cause of the crash is under investigation. No other vehicles were involved, and no foul play is suspected at this time.

Community members have flooded the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office with messages of support, and neighboring law enforcement agencies have also extended their well wishes.

Further updates on Deputy Mitchell’s condition and the ongoing investigation are expected in the coming days.
