Trinity County, TX – March 24, 2025
A wanted woman was taken into custody Monday after authorities found her 3-year-old child wandering alone in Trinity County, leading to an hours-long search.
According to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call near the 1200 block of FM 356 after reports of an unattended child playing outside. Upon arrival, deputies identified the child’s mother as 25-year-old Loryn Paige Garcia, who had outstanding felony warrants in three counties.
When deputies attempted to speak with Garcia, she took the child inside her residence and refused to communicate with law enforcement. Moments later, she fled the home through a back window, taking the child with her.
Garcia later sought help from an acquaintance, who transported her and the child to her mother’s residence in Onalaska. Authorities tracked her to the property and discovered her hiding inside a locked building. Deputies took her into custody around 1:20 p.m.
Sheriff Woody Wallace stated that the child was found safe and emphasized that law enforcement’s top priority was ensuring the child’s well-being. Authorities are now investigating individuals who may have aided Garcia in avoiding arrest, with possible charges pending.
Public records indicate that Garcia had a history of legal troubles, including a previous bond forfeiture related to a theft charge eight months ago.
The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information about ongoing criminal activities in the area to report it to local authorities.
