Two-Vehicle Collision on US-59 Near Livingston Leaves One Car in Flames

April 29, 2025 – Livingston, Texas

A two-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 59 just south of the Livingston city limits resulted in one car catching fire on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred at approximately 8:35 p.m.

According to reports, a gray 2012 Ford F-150 pickup driven by 51-year-old Todd Ethan Brown of Spring was traveling southbound on US-59. As Brown slowed to make a left turn into a crossover, his vehicle was rear-ended by a black 2002 Ford Mustang driven by 29-year-old Kayla Anona Small of Freeport. The impact caused the Mustang to veer off the road into nearby vegetation, where it caught fire. Brown’s pickup spun around and came to rest on the left shoulder, facing north.

Emergency responders, including Allegiance Ambulance Service, the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, officers from the Livingston Police Department, and Texas Highway Patrol Troopers Terrence Dickens and Damon Zarate, arrived promptly at the scene. Firefighters extinguished the fire in the Mustang’s engine compartment. Small exited her vehicle and was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital as a precautionary measure. Brown was unharmed and declined medical treatment.

Traffic on US-59 remained open during the investigation and cleanup. Small’s vehicle was recovered by Smith Towing of Livingston, while Brown’s pickup was driven from the scene. No citations have been issued at this time, as the Texas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
