Liberty County, Texas — April 22, 2025
Two men from Cleveland, Texas, have been arrested and charged in connection with a violent shooting and aggravated robbery that took place Tuesday morning in Liberty County, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 9:46 a.m. to reports of gunfire near the intersection of County Road 3416 and County Road 3418. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim at a residence in the 600 block of CR 3416 suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition.
Eyewitnesses told deputies they saw two masked men dressed in black fleeing the scene in a gray Nissan Altima. Authorities quickly issued a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) alert, and law enforcement units saturated the area in search of the suspects.
A patrol deputy soon located and stopped a vehicle matching the description. Inside were two Hispanic females and two Hispanic males. Investigators confirmed that the car was the same one seen leaving the crime scene. The two male occupants were detained at the traffic stop, and the vehicle was transported to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
The suspects—identified as Angel Salgado, 19, and Tomas Huerta-Sanchez, 19, both of Cleveland—were brought in for questioning. The Texas Rangers joined the investigation and conducted interviews with both individuals. Following the interviews, both Salgado and Huerta-Sanchez were formally charged with first-degree felony aggravated robbery.
“This was a swift and effective response by our deputies and neighboring agencies,” said a spokesperson for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. “Thanks to the quick coordination, we were able to remove two dangerous individuals from our streets and potentially save more lives.”
The Criminal Investigation Division of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office continues to lead the case. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (936) 336-4500.
As the investigation continues, more updates will be provided.
