Thunderstorms and Warm Temperatures Mark May Day Weather at Lake Livingston

Lake Livingston, TX — May 1, 2025

Residents and visitors around Lake Livingston are starting their Thursday with rumbles of thunder and overcast skies, as a band of thunderstorms rolled through the region early this morning. Temperatures at daybreak hovered around 62°F, with storm clouds blanketing much of the area.

Forecasters are calling for a warm and unsettled day ahead. The temperature is expected to rise to a high of 84°F this afternoon under partly cloudy skies. However, with the heating of the day, there’s a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms redeveloping, particularly in the late afternoon hours. Any storms that do form could bring heavy downpours, gusty winds, and lightning.

Winds out of the south-southeast will range from 10 to 15 miles per hour, adding to the warm and humid feel across the lakeside communities.

While the rainfall may offer a brief respite from rising springtime temperatures, residents are urged to stay weather-aware throughout the day. Boaters, campers, and anyone planning outdoor activities near the lake should monitor radar updates and be prepared to seek shelter if storms approach.

As always, safety remains a top priority. Officials remind the public to avoid flooded roadways and to take cover indoors during any lightning activity.
