Pro-Palestinian Protesters Temporarily Shut Down Grand Central Terminal in New York City

April 7, 2025

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered at Grand Central Terminal in New York City on Monday evening, leading to a temporary shutdown of the major transportation hub. The protesters, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans such as “Free, Free Palestine!” and “Israel bombs, USA pays. How many kids did you kill today?”, called for an end to the conflict in Gaza and urged the U.S. to cease its support for Israel.

The demonstration coincided with a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, D.C., earlier that day. During the meeting, President Trump suggested that U.S. control over the Gaza Strip would be beneficial, stating, “Having a force like the United States there, controlling and owning the Gaza Strip would be a good thing.”

Eyewitnesses reported that the protesters blocked main entrances and exits of Grand Central Terminal, causing significant disruptions for commuters. Social media footage showed large crowds unable to enter or exit the station due to the demonstrations.

The New York Police Department responded to the scene to manage the situation and ensure public safety. As of now, there are no reports of injuries or arrests related to the protest. Commuters are advised to check for service updates before traveling through Grand Central Terminal.
