Livingston Man Accused of Impersonating FBI Agent in Attempt to Finance New Truck

Houston, TX – April 24, 2025 — A Livingston man is facing serious charges after authorities say he impersonated an FBI agent, used his ex-girlfriend’s personal information without consent, and attempted to purchase a new truck from a Tomball-area dealership earlier this week.

According to court documents, 42-year-old Daniel Field walked into a dealership in the 23000 block of Tomball Parkway on Tuesday and filled out a credit application for a 2025 Dodge Ram 3500. On the application, Field allegedly listed his occupation as a “Special Agent” with the U.S. Department of Justice. Investigators say he also submitted his ex-girlfriend’s personal information to co-sign the loan—without her knowledge or permission.

When confronted by dealership staff and later by Harris County deputies, Field reportedly presented a badge and business cards identifying himself as an FBI agent. Authorities later confirmed with the FBI that Field has never been employed by the agency.

Deputies took Field into custody at the scene. A subsequent search of his vehicle uncovered several firearms and a cache of ammunition, raising additional safety concerns. Officials have not yet released details about the legality of the weapons in his possession.

Field has been charged with impersonating a public servant and fraudulent use or possession of identifying information. His bond has been set at $15,000. He remains in custody as of Thursday.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI are continuing their investigation.
