Liberty County Manhunt

Luis Miguel Perez, 34, a confirmed MS-13 gang member and El Salvador national who has been deported from the United States seven times, is now in custody following a seven-hour manhunt that began Monday afternoon, Feb. 24, on CR 5740 in the Colony Ridge communities south of Plum Grove.

According to Capt. David Meyers of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, the stabbing stemmed from a verbal disturbance that turned physical. Both men are Hispanic and were believed to have known each other prior to the incident. The victim has not yet been identified.

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott announced that the Colony Ridge development, a magnet for illegal aliens just north of Houston, is being targeted for deportation operations on Monday by the Department of Homeland Security and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The sprawling development covers roughly 60 square miles and has been the subject of a series of Daily Wire investigations revealing that it systematically attracts illegal aliens through its financial and marketing schemes.

“Colony Ridge is being targeted today,” Abbott wrote in a post on X. “Texas DPS Troopers & Special Agents are assisting Homeland Security Investigations with an operation in Colony Ridge this morning.”

Abbott added that the authorities are “targeting criminals & illegal immigrants” and that he has “worked with Tom Homan on this for months.”
