On Friday, March 21, 2025, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) responded to reports of a shooting incident at a residence on County Road 3802 in Cleveland, Texas. The sequence of events began around 12:30 p.m. when dispatchers received two consecutive calls.
The first call came from a grandmother who reported that a man had informed her that her granddaughter had taken her own life. Shortly thereafter, a second call was made by a woman who had arrived to clean the home, which was being used as an Airbnb rental. She reported encountering a man at the property who told her that a deceased female was inside the residence. Upon arrival, LCSO deputies attempted to make contact with the male suspect inside the home. The man refused to exit and was observed holding a pistol. While deputies were negotiating with him, the suspect turned the weapon on himself and fired, inflicting a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Deputies then entered the residence and discovered a deceased woman on the couch in the living room.
Emergency medical services provided immediate assistance, and the male suspect was transported to Kingwood Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The woman’s body was transported to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, while the male’s body was taken to the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Preliminary findings, supported by witness statements, suggest that this incident is an apparent murder-suicide. The identities of the deceased have not been released pending notification of next of kin. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
