High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Livingston After Multi-Agency Effort

Livingston, TX – May 4, 2025 — A high-speed pursuit that began early Sunday morning in Montgomery County came to a dramatic end in Livingston after officers deployed spike strips to stop the fleeing vehicle.

The chase started when the Patton Village Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 45-year-old Karen Brattskar of Thousand Oaks, California. Brattskar reportedly refused to pull over and led officers on a high-speed pursuit northbound on U.S. Highway 59.

As the pursuit crossed county lines, additional law enforcement agencies joined the effort to contain the fleeing suspect. The Livingston Police Department (LPD) was alerted and quickly mobilized. Officers staged near the south end of the city to prepare for the vehicle’s arrival.

Officer Matthew Stuart of LPD successfully deployed spike strips across the highway, which disabled the front tires of Brattskar’s vehicle and brought it to a stop.

The suspect was immediately taken into custody by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office without further incident.

Authorities have not yet released details on what prompted the initial stop or what charges Brattskar may face, but an investigation is underway.

The incident highlights the coordinated response of multiple agencies to safely end a potentially dangerous situation.
