On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at approximately 7:22 p.m., a bicyclist traveling north on the shoulder of Farm-to-Market Road 1988 in Polk County, Texas, was critically injured in a hit-and-run incident. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reports that the cyclist was struck and run over by an unknown vehicle, which fled the scene without stopping to provide assistance.
Investigators recovered an aftermarket right-side broken side mirror at the scene, believed to belong to a 2003–2007 Chevrolet or GMC SUV or pickup. This piece of evidence is crucial in identifying the vehicle involved.
