Texarkana, TX/AR (April 4, 2025) – A Flash Flood Emergency has been declared for the Texarkana area as torrential thunderstorms late Friday night unleashed between 2 and 4 inches of rain, with more on the way. The National Weather Service in Shreveport issued the emergency warning at 10:47 PM CDT, urging residents in northwestern Miller County (AR) and east-central Bowie County (TX) to seek higher ground immediately.
Law enforcement has reported multiple water rescues, with streets and low-lying areas inundated and vehicles stranded across the region. Flash flooding is already underway, and up to 1.5 more inches of rainfall is expected overnight.
“This is a Particularly Dangerous Situation,” the NWS emphasized in its bulletin. “Life-threatening flash flooding is occurring. Do not wait. Move to higher ground now.”
Areas affected include Texarkana, Wake Village, Nash, Mandeville, Genoa, and Mount Pleasant. Urban areas, underpasses, small creeks, and roadways are especially hazardous, with flooding conditions deteriorating rapidly after dark.
Officials are urging everyone to stay off the roads and avoid any flooded areas. “Turn around, don’t drown,” the warning reads, noting that most flood-related deaths happen in vehicles.
Residents are advised to monitor local alerts, be aware of changing conditions, and avoid any unnecessary travel until the threat has passed. The Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 1:45 AM CDT.
