CO Charged with Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility

On March 21, 2025, at approximately 1756 hours an LCSO Deputy received information that a correctional officer was in possession of a vape device inside the secure jail facility. The correctional officer was identified as Cadon Jermain Bowlen, DOB: 08/20/2004. The LCSO Deputy entered the jail facility and located Bowlen. Bowlen was escorted to the old Sheriff’s Office building. He was pat-searched and a vape device was in his right thigh pocket.

Bowlen was escorted to the deputy’s office and read his Miranda rights. He agreed to speak to the deputy. Bowlen admitted that he was carrying the vape pen for more than 2 ½ hours while on duty. An investigation was carried out. It was discovered that Bowlen had allowed an inmate to use the vape pen. Bowlen knowingly and intentionally introduced a prohibited substance in a jail facility. He was charged with Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility – a Third-Degree Felony.
