PRESS RELEASE

Polk County Sheriff’s Office Assists Onalaska Police with Stolen Property Recovery and Arrests

Livingston, TX – February 1, 2025

On the night of February 1, 2025, Polk County Sheriff’s Office Night Shift Deputies assisted the Onalaska Police Department in locating a stolen cell phone and purse. The items had been taken earlier in the day from the Dollar General in Onalaska.
The victim, who had tracked the stolen phone’s location, found it pinging near Willie’s Haven RV Park in Livingston, TX. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the area with Onalaska P.D, where they identified a male, Mark Kimberlin, who had an active felony warrant from Pardon and Parole.
After a probable cause search of Kimberlin’s camper, Deputies discovered illegal narcotics, leading to charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1 (over 1 gram but less than 4 grams). Additionally, the stolen purse and cell phone were found inside Kimberlin’s vehicle and recovered by the Onalaska Police Department for return to the rightful owner.
While on the scene, Deputies received information about a second suspect, captured on camera during the theft. Deputies traveled to the residence of Charles Faulk, who was identified as the second suspect.
At Faulk’s residence, Deputies located Faulk and another male, Edward Schoppe Sr., who had two active Class C warrants for his arrest. Schoppe was taken into custody on the warrants. During the investigation, Deputies seized several items of drug paraphernalia associated with methamphetamine use, as well as bags containing a white crystal substance identified as methamphetamine.
Both Faulk and Schoppe were charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1 (less than 1 gram). Faulk is also facing theft charges related to the earlier purse theft in Onalaska.
All three individuals—Mark Kimberlin, Charles Faulk, and Edward Schoppe Sr.—were booked into the Polk County Jail without incident.
