Dayton, TX – May 7, 2025 — Emergency crews were dispatched early Tuesday morning to the scene of a serious two-vehicle accident on Highway 321, just south of County Road 668, that left one person trapped inside a vehicle.

At approximately 5:57 a.m., the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department (DVFD) responded to the crash following reports of multiple entrapments. Upon arrival, responders found one individual trapped and began immediate extrication efforts. Rescue unit R861 led the operation, working quickly to free the occupant.
Due to the severity of the situation, mutual aid was requested from the Kenefick Volunteer Fire Department. Once the victim was extricated, they were handed over to Allegiance EMS for emergency medical care. The condition of the patient has not been released at this time.
While first responders worked to clear debris from the roadway, the Dayton Police Department launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office also responded to assist with the incident.
All units cleared the scene once the area was secured and traffic was restored.
This remains an active investigation. Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved.
