An 18-year-old Cleveland High School student, Gisel Gaytan, has been arrested and charged with first-degree felony aggravated assault in connection with a shooting that occurred on April 23 in Liberty County. Gaytan is the third individual arrested in the case, following the earlier apprehension of Angel Salgado and Tomas Huerta-Sanchez.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of multiple gunshots at a residence in the 600 block of County Road 3416 around 9:46 a.m. on April 23. Upon arrival, they found a male victim who had been shot multiple times. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Witnesses reported seeing two masked males fleeing the scene in a gray Nissan Altima. Approximately two hours later, law enforcement officers located a vehicle matching that description and conducted a traffic stop. Inside were two Hispanic females and two Hispanic males. The two male occupants were detained, and the vehicle was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for processing. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Gaytan, identified as the driver of the vehicle.
All three suspects are currently held in the Liberty County Jail on $1,000,000 bonds each. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence.
