Of all the Caribbean Islands, Jamaica is not just the favorite for North American tourists, but stands out among top wedding destinations globally.
Jamaica’s place in world’s top destinations was reaffirmed recently at World Travel Awards in Vietnam where Jamaica won World’s Leading Wedding Destination.
The country also earned other awards in categories like the cruise, luxury hotel villa, all-inclusive resort, and villa resort. However, destination weddings contribute to the emerging segment which provides a remarkable revenue generating potential to the tourism sector.
A Co-owner of Cruise Planners, Joel Scholtz, expressed joy in the continuous growth of his destination wedding business in Jamaica.
In her remarks, Jenifer Donscenz, CEO, VIP Vacations, claims that off all their worldwide business locations, Jamaica accounts for a large percent of their overall sales for destination weddings since 2005. She added that this increase has been consistent over the years.
One of the key factors responsible for this remarkable growth in Jamaica’s wedding industry is the popularity of the island. Jamaica stands behind Cuba and Dominican Republics, as the third most visited destination in the Caribbean; recording a whopping 2.8 million tourists in 2016 only. Under the supervision of JTB (Jamaica Tourist Board, the country has done a great job in exploiting its natural endowments to attract more visitors.
The Acting Director of Tourism in Jamaica, Donnie Dawson, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to further boost tourism in the country, by giving visitors more memorable experience.
Jamaica is blessed with several attractions including elegant ranges and beautiful beaches. Not forgetting the UNESCO World Heritage destination; John and Crow Mountains.
Joel Scholtz explains that Jamaica gets its glory, basically, from the Island itself. With its beautiful beaches, 700 miles of coastline, delicious local recipes, as well as the hospitality of the locales, every moment spent leaves tourists with exciting and timeless memories.
The country’s hotel and resort businesses, as well as its airline services, have all recorded tremendous growth over the years.
Joel Scoltz, boasts of his country’s diversity in all-inclusive resorts and several resorts from the exclusive Montego Bay, Ocho Rios mystic Mountain, and Dunns River Falls to the beautiful Seven Mile Beach and the calm Negril.
VIP Vacation’s Donscenz explains that when it comes to weddings, only few world destinations may be compared to Jamaica. And if class and style is what couples seek, then Jamaica is their best bet. Most interestingly, Jamaica has never been named among countries hit by the deadly hurricane or any significant natural disaster.
In addition, Donscenz claims that Jamaica offers greater benefits than Dominican Republic and Mexico, which are its primary competitors. The blood-chilling criminal stories from Mexico and the effects of the recent hurricane which was bound for Dominican Republic, have reduced visitor’s interest for such destinations – and singles out Jamaica as their preferred destination.
